Rohingya Refugee Death Ruled Homicide After Border Patrol Abandonment
A 56-year-old Rohingya man, Nurul Shah Alam, died in freezing Buffalo temperatures after being abandoned by Border Patrol, just one day after his release from detention. Shah Alam, who was visually impaired and suffering from poor health, was left without proper clothing or notice to his family. His body was found five days later, four miles from the drop-off point, wearing only detention-issued booties in subzero weather.
