UN warns of severe pollution crisis in Mexico linked to US waste exports

Mexico is grappling with an escalating environmental disaster as hazardous waste from the United States exacerbates toxic pollution across the country, a United Nations expert has revealed. Following an 11-day investigation, UN special rapporteur on toxics and human rights, Marcos Orellana, reported widespread contamination from industrial chemicals, imported waste, and pesticides, turning many areas into what he termed “sacrifice zones” where dire health effects, such as cancer and miscarriages
