Ethiopia’s Easter celebrations this year are overshadowed by a worsening fuel crisis and skyrocketing costs of basic goods. In Addis Ababa and beyond, the usual communal rituals, like the slaughtering of livestock for festive meals, are slipping out of reach for many. Fuel shortages, attributed in part to ripple effects from the Middle East crisis, have created long lines at gas stations and pushed transport costs to unsustainable levels. The spike in prices has left families and businesses reel
