Cameroon Approves Vice Presidency Role Amid Opposition Backlash

Cameroon's parliament has approved a constitutional overhaul to reintroduce the office of vice president, a decision that opposition parties warn will entrench President Paul Biya's authority. The 93-year-old leader, already Africa’s longest-serving head of state, will have sole power to appoint and dismiss the vice president, who can only act with powers delegated by the president.
